Harry enlisted at Camp Upton in Yaphank New York on February 28th, 1942.  At the time, he was 23 years old and had completed 2 years of High School. 

 

At the time of his enlistment he was working as a manager at the Federated Nut Company, also known as Chock Full'o Nuts.

His enlistment was "for the duration of the War or other emergency, plus six months, subject to the discretion of the President or otherwise according to law."  He entered Service as a Private.
